Weather or no weather, when the Procession scene visits the villages and parishes, young and old are present. In this newsletter you will already get a first impression. If you want to know more about the Tongres relics, which led to the 7-yearly Sanctuary procession the forerunner of our Kroningsfeesten, be sure to come to the lecture next Thursday. The Tongres Deported will find here their invitation to their day on April 22. A reminder for the little ones : their drawings are now expected at the secretariat. Relics rediscovered : March 16, 8 p.m. - OLV Basilica
|
|
|
|
Together with Jeroen Reyniers, on March 16 at 8 p.m. in the Basilica, dive into the world of saints and their relics. You will discover what relics are, whether they still exist today and what special examples are hidden in the reliquaries of Tongeren. The Sanctuary Tours, the forerunner of the seven-yearly Kroningsfeesten, grew up around this great appreciation and importance of relic veneration. Entrance : free.

Coronation drawings now bringing in
|
|
|
|
The Coronation drawing contest for 6 to 12 year olds is coming to an end. Drawings can be brought in to the Coronation Secretariat until March 12, Via Julianus 5 (De Schiervelstraat) near Tourism Tongeren. Please clearly write your first name, last name, address, date of birth, phone number and e-mail address on the reverse side of your drawing. Schools are also asked to bring in their students' drawings in a timely manner. More info can be found at the link below.

Invitation : Day of Deported Tongans

Zaterdag 22 april organiseren wij de “Dag van de Uitgeweken Tongenaren” naar aanleiding van de Kroningsfeesten 2023. Op deze dag willen wij u meer vertellen over de stand van zaken ivm de voorbereiding van de Kroning 2023 én willen wij u het nieuwe Tongeren laten zien. Wij verwachten de Uitgeweken Tongenaren vanaf 13.00u in de Velinx (Dijk 111 Tongeren). Nadien brengen we een bezoek aan o.a. het Teseum, de Archeologische Site onder de Basiliek en het kroningssecretariaat. Omstreeks 17 uur sluiten we de dag af met een “vijfuurtje”. Since Feb. 26, the Processional Statue of Our Lady has been moving from village to village. Weather or no weather. Everywhere, Mary is welcomed with open arms. Lots of grateful hands make it a festive event every time. In Rutten, the preschoolers even sang a Coronation song they made themselves. However, pictures say more than words. Therefore

Kroningsjongerendag 5 & 6 juli

De kroning is er zowel voor jong als oud. Toch is er één dag in de kroningsweek die we speciaal willen beleven samen met jongeren van Tongeren, Limburg en daarbuiten.

Youth Day will take place on Wednesday, July 5 and Thursday, July 6. Like the coronation festivities, this day will also be dedicated to # search connection. The youth put together both a day and evening program. Curious to know what to expect ...

The Coronation Package : something for you

|
If you want to experience Coronation Day in optimal conditions, then a Coronation Package is definitely for you. From previous editions, we learned that not only the business community responded to this package, but certainly also Greater Tongans who want to invite family, friends or acquaintances to the Kroningsfeesten. For those who join the procession, it is an ideal formula to ensure that their guests are well taken care of. The arrangement therefore guarantees a beautiful Coronation Day.

How do I order grandstand tickets and evening game tickets?
|
|
|
|
As in 2016, a grandstand will be placed on the Leopold Wall in 2023. Those who wish to attend the procession in comfort can purchase tickets for it. They are reserved, numbered seats. The price for a grandstand seat is 15 euros. The evening play is free to attend. We do provide some seating. You can buy tickets for this as well. The price for a seat is 18 euros.

Maria houses project : do you participate ?
|
|
|
Tongres graffiti artist Flipka (Philippe Vroonen), together with enthusiastic Tongres, wants to realize the project Mary's Houses as part of the Coronation theme #Search connection. Central to the project is a temporary chapel made from reclaimed materials. On Saturdays April 29 and May 6 in the afternoon, a workshop for 20 people each will be held at the chapel. Each participant will be given a small Marian house which he/she will learn to decorate, under Flipka's expert guidance.
