The time has come. The long-awaited Coronation Week begins. The 19th edition of the Coronation festivities comes to its climax this week. We have looked forward to it for a long time and prepared for it for years with many. Today in the Basilica of Our Lady at 10 a.m. there is the pontifical celebration of the Eucharist which will be broadcast live on VRT 1 TV and Radio. This will be followed by the relic display. The more than 3,000 participants will pass through the streets of Tongeren at 3 p.m. in the first Coronation Stroll and will give shape to tonight's Coronation Evening Play. In addition, there is so much more to do today.

The Basilica is again crowned with flowers in July 2023 . Unlike the previous editions, we step away from the classical paths and go for a very austere filling that accentuates the Gothic shapes of the church . The florists provided a vertical, transparent filling so that all attention was focused on the altar. We worked with colorful flowering plants so that the whole will certainly remain beautiful for a long time.

The Fioretti - folk game in the Beguinage

Coronation film 2023: procession + evening game

Also this edition there will be a Coronation film about the procession as well as the evening game. The filming will take place on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
