Sept. 23 Closing of Coronation Year
|

Next Saturday is the day : the wonderful 19th edition of the seven-year Kroningsfeesten will come to a close. We were able to experience very nice Coronation moments with the highlight being the Coronation Week from July 2 to 9, 2023. Next Saturday we will relive the Coronation mood with the Procession of Light, when we will all march through the streets of Tongeren together in plain clothes with a candle and with the Cause of Our Joy. We hope you will be there.

September 23 : traffic and parking
|
|
|
|
The city of Tongeren has drawn up a traffic plan for the Light Procession so that everything can run smoothly. All information regarding closed streets and parking restrictions can be found at this link. Or at our website. Other than parking along the streets, we give notice that Parking De Motten, the Velinx and the Q Parkings are all accessible and that VIIO Tongeren is opening the running track on Beech Mountain Road and the playground on Red Cross Avenue.

Procession of light : Put a candle in front of your window or door
|
|

During the Procession of Light, we would like to
once together give expression to our coronation theme 1TP6Search connection. Each of us has our own reason for participating or going to Mary. Therefore, we would like to ask you to express your intentions on September 23 by placing one or more (LED) candle(s) at your window or front door. In this way we will not only create a course for the light procession, but also express support for each other: #seek connection.

September 23 Light procession : will you step with us ?
|
|
|
|
ANYONE, including those who were not participants during the month of July, is invited to participate in the Procession of Light in regular attire with a candle. Candles with wind cap can be obtained at following places. In the table click Here you will find the order and gathering places. For some groups it also says, in which part of Tongeren they mainly recruited, so you know where to find your parish, neighborhood or village colleagues. Most important, however, is that we march together in communion with one another.

Will you become a Friend of Coronation 2030?
|
|
|
|
Organizing Kroningsfeesten is only possible when many people join hands. There is also a need for sufficient financial resources. This is why the Coronation Committee started the "Friends of the Coronation" a few Coronation editions ago. Under the motto "many little ones make one big" we invite everyone to join the "Friends of the Coronation 2030". Joining can be done by depositing a minimum of 7 euros per month. 7 euros per month is

Pilgrimage to Tongeren : Sept. 23 during the day
|
|
|
|
This year's annual pilgrimage to Mary will take place at the conclusion of the seven-year Kroningsfeesten Sept. 23. At the partner walk, you can choose between a 5,10 or 15 km walk. Each walk takes you past basilica, beguinage and medieval ramparts. More info click here.

DIFOTO : Coronation Exhibition
|
|
|
|
The exhibition "7 annual portraits" of Fotoclub DIFOTO takes place in the Ursula - chapel. The opening hours are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 22, Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24. Already months before the coronation processions the preparations start and you see a lot of men who are "growing" for a decent beard during the Coronation Week. Well that coronation atmosphere the photographers want to show through typical portraits at this exhibition. Be sure to come and see if yourself, a family member or an acquaintance is hanging there. Everyone is welcome.

Coronation Remembrance : USB Procession + evening game
|
|
|
|
This edition also features a Coronation film about the procession as well as the evening game. The filming took place on Sunday, July 2, 2023. Carrier of the film this time is a USB stick so that the Coronation film can be played on TV as well as on PC or tablet. You can buy this Coronation film at the Coronation Secretariat, but also via our webshop or by bank transfer.
