Sept. 23 Closing of Coronation Year

Next Saturday is the day : the wonderful 19th edition of the seven-year Kroningsfeesten will come to a close. We were able to experience very nice Coronation moments with the highlight being the Coronation Week from July 2 to 9, 2023. Komende zaterdag gaan we de Kroningssfeer nog eens herbeleven met de Lichtprocessie, wanneer we allen samen in gewone kledij met een kaarsje én met de Oorzaak Onzer Blijdschap door de Tongerse straten zullen trekken. Wij hopen dat jij er dan ook bij bent.

September 23 : traffic and parking

The city of Tongeren has drawn up a traffic plan for the Light Procession so that everything can run smoothly. All information regarding closed streets and parking restrictions can be found at this link. Or at our website. Other than parking along the streets, we give notice that Parking De Motten, the Velinx and the Q Parkings are all accessible and that VIIO Tongeren is opening the running track on Beech Mountain Road and the playground on Red Cross Avenue.

Procession of light : Put a candle in front of your window or door

During the Procession of Light, we would like to
een keer samen uiting geven aan ons kroningsthema #zoekverbinding. Ieder van ons heeft wel een eigen reden om deel te nemen of om naar Maria te gaan. Daarom willen we je vragen om op 23 september uiting te geven aan je intenties door aan raam of voordeur een of meerdere (LED)kaarsje(s) te plaatsen. Zo creëren we niet alleen een stemmig course for the light procession, but also express support for each other: #seek connection.

September 23 Light procession : will you step with us ?
|
|
|
|
ANYONE, including those who were not participants during the month of July, is invited to participate in the Procession of Light in regular attire with a candle. Candles with wind cap can be obtained at following places. In the table click Here you will find the order and gathering places. For some groups it also says, in which part of Tongeren they mainly recruited, so you know where to find your parish, neighborhood or village colleagues. Most important, however, is that we march together in communion with one another.

Kroningsfeesten organiseren kan enkel wanneer vele mensen de handen in elkaar slaan. Daarnaast is er ook nood aan voldoende financiële middelen. Daarom startte het Kroningscomité enkele Kroningsedities geleden met de “Vrienden van de Kroning”. Onder het motto “vele kleintjes maken één groot” nodigen wij iedereen uit toe te treden tot de “Vrienden van de Kroning 2030”. Toetreden kan door minimum 7 euro per maand te storten. 7 euro per maand is

Pilgrimage to Tongeren : Sept. 23 during the day
|

|
|
This year's annual pilgrimage to Mary will take place at the conclusion of the seven-year Kroningsfeesten Sept. 23. At the partner walk, you can choose between a 5,10 or 15 km walk. Each walk takes you past basilica, beguinage and medieval ramparts. More info click here.

DIFOTO : Coronation Exhibition
|
|
|
|
De tentoonstelling “7 jaarlijkse portretten” van Fotoclub DIFOTO vindt plaats in de Ursula - kapel. De openingsuren zijn van 13 tot 18 uur en dit nog op vrijdag 22, zaterdag 23 en zondag 24 september. Reeds maanden voordat de kroningsprocessies plaatsvinden starten de voorbereidingen en zie je heel wat mannen die aan het “kweken” zijn voor een degelijke baard tijdens de Kroningsweek. Welnu die kroningssfeer willen de fotografen via typische portretten laten zien op deze tentoonstelling. Kom zeker eens kijken of jezelf, een familielid of een kennis erbij hangt. Iedereen is van harte welkom.

Coronation Remembrance : USB Procession + evening game
|
|
|
|
Ook deze editie is er een Kroningsfilm over de processie én het avondspel. De opnames vonden plaats op zondag 2 juli 2023. Drager van de film is ditmaal een USB stick zodat de Kroningsfilm zowel op TV als op PC of tablet kan worden afgespeeld. Deze kroningsfilm kan je kopen in het Kroningssecretariaat, maar ook via onze webshop of via overschrijving.
