All of Tongeren and all supporters of the Kroningsfeesten are experiencing an incredible Coronation Week. With this newsletter we want you to enjoy it. You can relive the Coronation Mass, learn more about what importance Monsignor Hoogmartens, Bishop of Hasselt, attaches to the Kroningsfeesten. We provide mood interviews and teach you more about the relics and the Coronation. TV Limburg will broadcast the Ommegang of July 2 at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 9. And if you want to enjoy the procession and the evening game later, we recommend the Coronation film. You can still watch the pontifical Eucharist of Sunday, July 2, which was broadcast live on VRT TV and VRT Rado1 via VRT Max click here if you have created a VRT profile. Sung here is the Mass that Piet Swerts, Uitgeweken Tongenaar, wrote especially for this Kroningsfeesten. The mass was performed by De Kleine Cantorij under the direction of Kapellmeister Jan Peeters. Piet Swerts also wrote a festive sortie to accompany it, which organist Luc Ponet performed.

Coronation procession on TV Limburg

Zondag 9 juli zendt TV Limburg om 17 uur de Kroningsprocessie uit van zondag 2 juli. Dankzij TV Limburg hoopt het Kroningscomité alzo de Kroningsfeesten ook te brengen bij de Limburgers die niet in de mogelijkheid waren om tijdens de Kroningsweek aanwezig te zijn in Tongeren. Alzo kan ook op deze wijze het Kroningsthema #zoekverbinding in de praktijk worden omgezet. Bekijk hier de aankondiging alsook het verhaal van de Tongerse baarden.

Coronation film 2023: procession + evening game
|
|
|
Ook deze editie is er een Kroningsfilm over de processie én het avondspel. De opnames vonden plaats op zondag 2 juli 2023. Drager van de film is ditmaal een USB stick zodat de Kroningsfilm zowel op TV als op PC of tablet kan worden afgespeeld. Deze kroningsfilm kan je kopen in het Kroningssecretariaat, maar ook via onze webshop.

Tongres graffiti artist Flipka (Philippe Vroonen), together with enthusiastic Tongres, realized the project Maria houses in the context of the Coronation theme #Search connection. Queen Mathilde at 3rd ommegang

Koningin Mathilde woonde de 3de ommegang van de Kroningsfeesten bij. Hare majesteit was achteraf vol lof. Dat vertelde ze aan de voorzitter van het Kroningscomité Peter Severijns én aan burgemeester Patrick Dewael. Vrijdag telde de politie 65.000 bezoekers. OOk het avondspel werd zeer druk bijgewoond.

Tongeren's Crown piece is alive and well
|
|
|
|
Radio Klara will search this summer for the Crown Jewel of 50 Flemish museums. That of the Teseum in Tongeren wordt nog elke 7 jaar meegedragen in de ‘Ommegang van de Kroningsprocessie’, aldus Klara. Het reliekbeeldje van Maria is uit de 14e eeuw. In haar rechterhand draagt ze een reliek van Maria, op haar andere arm het kindje Jezus. Beluister hier het verhaal.
